Will evaluate the ecotoxicological effects of urban runoff on individuals and communities in biofilms and invertebrates, using a set of biomarkers.
Ecotoxicity will be evaluated on urban effluents as well as on prioritized contaminants, to provide a sensitive-based response for urban runoff.
WP3 aims at:
- Evaluating acute and chronic responses to urban runoff and selected urban contaminants on aquatic biofilms and invertebrate individuals. A battery of stress biomarkers (e.g. physiological responses, growth) will be assessed using microcosm bioassays under laboratory conditions.
- Developing indicators for urban runoff pollution based on biodiversity and ecotoxicological responses.
