Hydrology
/01
Will construct a unified strategy for the sampling design and instrumentation, data analysis, data management, and hydrological modelling in the two case studies.
This WP will coordinate the timing, frequency, and data obtention in the case studies. WP1 will use the collected data to simulate (i) the transport of runoff and associated contaminants in the system made up by the urban drainage and (ii) to the receiving water body, by using models on hydraulics and hydrology tailored to the two urban-natural system.
WP1 aims at:
- Designing a methodology for the sampling and analysis, tailored to each city case studies.
- Developing a digitalization scheme for the city-river sampling, aimed to optimize the sampling through sensor deployment in sewers and rivers, connected to automated samplers to consider the occurrence of trend and event- effects of climate change.
- Establishing the hydraulic behaviour of sewer systems, drainage urban areas and receiving water bodies in each case study, and identify the key points of the sewer network, to determine the pathways and impacts on the freshwater system.
- Monitoring the transport of urban pollutants after rainfall episodes, to subsequently evaluate their arrival to the natural environment.
